The Dark and Dirty South

Image
Status 1:00 am on I-80, Chachi at the wheel, Sharon riding shotgun, Fink (I'm going to experiment with the 3rd person a bit) in the back. We just left Blossum and have an 8 hour drive to tomorrow's show at Alpine Valley. Once again no thanks to phish for the rough tour routing. The things we do for this band... but wow have they made it worth our while this summer.  Tonight (Blossum) was such a fresh, fun, playful, tight and hard charging show. I don't have a good enough vocabulary to describe this show. So glad they mixed up the rotation and gave us so many old school songs - only 2 songs younger than 17! Phish continues to Destroy not only America but Everything in their path. Do not sleep on any opportunity at all to see Phish. They are at the top of their game, truly next level phish. The exact hallway point of summer 2015 tour is at set break of tonight's (alpine valley 1) show. We are right in the middle of the best tour I have ever experienced...acknowledging as ...

Hot 'Lanta

Status On yet another flight, this time from Atlanta to Ohio. It has been a series of planes, trains and automobiles taking me across the country following Phish. Major props to the people doing large chunks of this tour by car. Phish has not made the routing easy. At all. Intro I have really been looking forward to the southern swing this year, especially Atlanta. I graduated from Emory University, lived and worked in the A-T-L throughout college, sold tickets at Lakewood for a minute and had my first taste of Phish in The A. I was the box office manager at the Roxy for nearly 4 years and got to see (and comp my buddies) hundreds of shows including some band named Phish in 93 that I really didn't get at the time. However my deadhead buddies liked them enough that I would go and see them every time they played in Atlanta and they obviously grew on me...just a little bit.  It was also special being able to spend time with Valerie on her home turf, she is an incredible hostess. ...

Texas Two Step

Image
Status On a big jet airplane heading towards Atlanta following the Texas two step. I spent a grand total of 45 hours and 55 minutes in Texas, not nearly enough time but this is the life (of a t00r rat) I have chosen.  Activity Summary As tour goes on and I drop in and out of cities with limited time to hang out one of the things that gets cut back is the ability to explore and be active. As such Tejas pretty much involved friends, food, travel, phish and (limited) sleep. I'm not complaining at all, just pointing out why this section (and your trip) is short. Although based on all of the TL;DR messages I get people are probably thankful for a short blog section.  Grinds The Grove Wine Bar downtown Austin. Went straight from the airport and met up with Aron, Wookie, Lauren, Eliza, Grant, Jen and mama Beavers. Had a nice bowl of spaghetti and meatballs (carb loading for my one meal of the day), all of the food was on point and the service was great.  The Hibbs, Austin. On ou...

California Soul

Image
Intro Leaving Austin and heading to Dallas with my main man Kim at the wheel so figured this was a good time to try and play catch-up on finks phish adventures, California Soul edition.  Flew from Portland into San Jose for the Shoreline show. Per the norm and one of the enjoyable aspects of tour life, at the airport I saw a bunch of phans and friends. It's always fun to kill airport time exchanging phish tales. It's also nice to have pham to sit next to on the Southwest Airlines GA Floor. Big ups to southwest for being a critical player that gets it done in my tour life.  Valerie and Joe picked me up at the airport. In a circle is getting smaller all the time kind of way, separately Joe was also picking up Reiko who was on the same flight. She is part of the Japhan crew - one of my favorite phish crews. It takes an even higher level of dedication to travel from Japan to follow the Phish from Vermont. They are also some of the nicest people in our scene, always makin...
