My Morning Jacket - Love Love Love
Greetings and Salutations Sanity!!!
It has been a while but I get periodic updates from Carver and love seeing Sanity and SSOD still going strong. Thanks to everyone, especially Marc, for keeping the dream alive.
It has been about a year since I left social media. I don’t miss much of it but I do miss y’all! I also miss oversharing details of my life with my fans 😛. I actually do miss both of those things (not enough to return) so I will take advantage of hosting this week to share some stories and updates. In general things are great in my world; happy, healthy, exercising every day, taking care of the dogs and doing my thing. No news is good news, health is wealth, living my liphe, collecting moments, choosing happiness... all of the catchphrases!
My theme for the week is going to focus on my musical Mt. Rushmore. In alphabetical order: Trey Anastasio, Neal Casal, Jerry Garcia and Jim James. These are the 4 most important rock prophet gods in my universe. They are the human deity’s that I believe in, follow and worship. They have brought me and so many others joy, knowledge, friendship, peace, and understanding. I am going to focus on the beautiful music created by these beautiful humans this week.
I was going to start with Phish but when I sat down to write I realized it is Valentine’s Day. A pretty dumb hallmark holiday that I have never been a fan of. Very rarely have I had a special valentine and when I have had a special someone it puts a weird pressure of expectations to do something meaningful. However LOVE is something I fully support and am behind. Also important to remover that LOVE doesn’t only have to be with a significant other, it can be with your family (I love my family), your friends (I love my chosen family), your community (I love you Sanity), etc. LOVE = GREAT, Valentines Day = not great.
Therefore today’s SSOD is going to be, appropriately titled, Love Love Love by My Morning Jacket from last years self-titled album.
The album is more lyrically heavy and powerful than musically and while I like the album it isn’t one of my favorites (It Still Moves, Z and Evil Urges are the top 3). However Jim James has a lot to say about some heavy topics including income inequality, screen time, war, prejudice/discrimination. Times are pretty fucked up and Yim doesn’t run from that. He balances the weight of the album with two really positive songs… Lucky to Be Alive and Love Love Love. I think the lyrics are great. LOVE… the more you give the more you get.
My Morning Jacket
Happy LOVE day Sanity!
PS I am also going to include a Fink picture of the day with each of these posts for your viewing pleasure. Today's is from my cousins wedding last June (that brief moment in time where things seemed normal), love was the obvious connection. It was so great to get together with my awesome family after only seeing each other on zooms.
