My Morning Jacket - Fink Faves

“I know you don't smoke weed, I know this; but I'm gonna get you high today, 'cause it's Friday; you ain't got no job... and you ain't got shit to do.”

Happy Friday Sanity!!!

I don’t have much to say today (shocking I know, I am good just feeling reflective) so I am just going to share some music and a picture. Continuing the theme of Mt. Rushmore, we will circle back around to Jim James and My Morning Jacket. I am going to share a couple of my favorite songs.

Run It – The Waterfall II

My latest / most recent favorite. A really simple but beautiful song. Jim Fucking James

Spring (Among The Living) – The Waterfall

I always liked this song but it hit me really powerfully when I saw MMJ this summer at the Santa Barbara Bowl. I had been “hibernating” for 1.5 years and wasn’t really feeling like being out again. Covid and whatnot. However I took some velvet, went to MMJ and it broke me out of my funk. At the show the lyrics really spoke to me. AMONG THE LIVING AGAIN.

Steam Engine – It Still Moves

Probably my second favorite Jacket song, the song they tend to take this song the deepest at their shows.  It just hits me in all the feels.

Touch Me I’m Going to Scream, Pt. 2 – Evil Urges

My favorite MMJ song. This song is the business. It is so good. The slow build to the dance beat to amazing lyrics to the climax to the build down. This song is fucking perfect. If you want to see me go nuts watch what happens when I hear this song at a show.

Today’s picture was from our annual backpacking trip last year. We went to Pariah Canyon on the Arizona / Utah border. It was fucking epic. A 40+ mile trek through some unbelievable slot canyons. Very similar to the narrows at Zions without any of the people (only 20 permits a day, we actually didn’t see a single person the last 2 days) and sleeping under the stars. It was sick. GET OUTSIDE (and have a lovely weekend).
