Phish - Everything's Right
We have come to the end of my week of hosting SSOD. Thank you to all of those that read my posts. It has been fun providing a little bit of music and a lot of Fink rambling. Hopefully I introduced at least one person to the greatness of Neal Casal’s solo career. And where else would we end but where Sanity all began… with the greatest band in all the land.
Funny that it is Sunday Funday because the last few weeks haven’t really been much funday at all. I went into lockdown again but this time it wasn’t being afraid of getting Covid (I obviously don’t want to get it – avoided it thus far) but rather not wanting to get Covid and miss Mexico. I really want, shit I need (as dramatic as that sounds), to get to Mexico for Phish. It would be pretty devastating to get Covid now and miss Phish in Mexico.
I clearly have Phish Mexico on the brain. Crazy to think that the last time we were there was really the last pre-covid event of our lives. I feel like the band and community are bursting at the seams with the cancellation of the New Years run and Mexico is going to be pretty fucking bananas. It is my favorite Phish run. If at all possible I recommend everyone try to get down there at least once. I would legit trade this entire summer tour for Mexico. Speaking of I am actually more excited for Jazzfest than this somewhat bizarre tour. I will still hit a few select stops of course but for the most part I’m not feeling IT. Not sure if I am just getting older, appreciating that there is more to life or even just becoming super comfortable at home with the dogs. While the past two years sucked on some levels they were pretty awesome on others.
As much as I am excited to be on the beach listening to Phish in Mexico (wow, just read that sentence again), I am even more excited to spend time with my friends and loved ones. At the end of the day what really matters in life is the relationships, conversations and shared experiences you have with the people that you LOVE. Everything else is noise… of course in the case of Phish it is the most beautiful noise in the world.
My final SSOD is one that you will all know but it was my favorite moment from Mexico 2020. We didn’t know it at the time but it would be the last Phish show for one and a half years. I spend most of my time in the ocean during Phish Mexico, this was the only time the Ocean was crowded because it was during the daytime set. The sun was setting, Fishman (Happy Birthday!) was in a suit, everyone was vibed out, we were blissfully unaware or at least unafraid of Covid, liphe was just exactly perfect. While the Shafty Plasma set was the best complete musical journey in Mexico, Everything’s Right was THE moment for me, especially about 11 minutes into the song when it goes into that super funky groovy section that sounds a little like That’s All by Genesis.
Everything’s Right closed 3.0. Everything’s Right brought us into 2022. And it will be a huge jam vehicle at some point in the next week bringing everything full circle. In some way I feel like Everything’s Right in Mexico 2022 will close the loop on the last two years of weirdness and it will officially be time move forward. Maybe this is more of a hope but without hope we are lost.
Looking forward to seeing those of you that I see in Mexico and others somewhere down the numberline. Peace, love, music, Phish and family. I LOVE YOU.

Today’s picture was from the Gorge 2021. Not the best run musically but my first Phish run since the pandemic and laughing for 3 straight days with my friends was the best.
